HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST // EAGLE BROOK CHURCH

 

JOB OBJECTIVES

 

  • Champions daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) team, including administering pay, benefits, leave and policy compliance and practices
  • Drives initiatives for process efficiency
  • Owner of continuous improvement efforts
  • Demonstrates and promotes the Eagle Brook staff commitments
  • Reports to HR Director

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Prepares and processes biweekly payroll with accuracy:
    • Processes payroll-related changes
    • Processes benefit plan contributions, employee deferrals and garnishments
    • Resolves any payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
    • Maintains proper set-up of HRIS and payroll systems
    • Performs quarterly payroll/benefits deduction audits
    • Partners with direct reports to manage payroll process
  • Administers benefit plans and processes:
    • Manages employee group benefit plans
    • Maintains positive relationships with group plan administrators and contacts
    • Administers retirement plan
    • Manages FMLA/disability leaves
  • Selects, develops, and supervises assigned HR employees
  • Oversees background check process and employee eligibility verifications
  • Provides advisement and consultation to leaders through external benchmark data and internal best Practice guidelines on compensation practices and policies
  • Manages the design and development of tools to assist employees in benefits selection and to guide managers through compensation decisions
  • Develops and administers compensation programs, such as merit and incentive pay
  • Partners and leads through annual performance review process
  • Builds strong relationships organizationally and provides guidance to staff and supervisors
  • Evaluates job positions, determining classification, exempt or non-exempt status and salary
  • Analyzes and modifies compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Assists in creation of and updates to HR policy and process, including the employee handbook, HR policies and procedures and compliance documents

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Awareness of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Follower of Jesus and aligns with Eagle Brook Church’s nine core beliefs
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of HR experience
  • Proficient in HR management systems and technology, including ADP and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to respond to highly complex situations that require excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Proven leader and team management skills
  • Analytical and data-driven decision maker
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Directs and manages the time and work of at least two others, with responsibility for personnel decisions, including hiring, firing, promoting, etc. (although approval by next level management may be required)

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field
  • 5-7 years of HR experience
  • Experience serving employee population of 100+
  • PHR, SHRM-CP or equivalent certification

 

JOB DETAILS

 

  • Location: Centerville, MN
  • Status: exempt / salary
  • Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000
  • Full/Part Time: full time
  • Regular/Temporary: regular
  • Workdays: Monday – Friday
  • Work Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Remote Eligible: may be eligible to work from home one day per week
  • Ministry/Department: Operations
  • Team: Human Resources

 

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  • Regularly remains in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Regularly uses repeating motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Occasionally adjusts or moves objects up to 5 pounds in all directions
  • Occasionally moves objects up to 20 pounds
